I can not believe what happened last night.
I can not believe that half the people of America belittle themselves so much as to think they deserve such a person to represent them and be their President. What, dear friends, and who, made you believe you were not entitled to better? What, dearest women, and who, made you have such a despised image of yourselves that you could think a single thing he said is how you should be treated? What, dear human beings, and who, made you think that your neighbor is worse than you? That respect, help, caring, sharing, providing for everyone and tolerance are not the best way to all live together and help everyone grow?
Dear America, most of your people have lost their self-resfect, have lost hope. Because if you believe such a man will be able to do anything better, you are being wronged again. This is NOT the way to go.
Because we all make mistakes and sure need to learn from them (which we obviously haven’t; proof is in Brexit, last night’s elections and all upcoming ones that are now at stakes); because you will not grow back if I hate you and your horrible decision; because my friends and family live in the USA and I believe in them,
I WILL LOVE YOU MORE,
I WILL SUPPORT YOU MORE,
I WILL STAND BY YOU WHEN YOU DON’T BELIEVE IN YOURSELF,
I WILL SHOW YOU WHAT IT SHOULD BE LIKE TO LIVE TOGETHER
AND ACCEPT EACH OTHER’S DIFFERENCES.

No puedo entender que la mitad del pueblo de los EE.UU. se desprecia tanto para pensar que sí se merecen a tan mala persona para representarlo y ser su Presidente. Queridos amigos, ¿qué, y quien, les hizo creer que no pueden tener mejor? Queridas mujeres, ¿qué, y quien, les dió tan mala imagen personal para pensar que lo que dice de Uds. es cómo las deben tratar? Queridos seres humanos, ¿qué, y quien, les dijo que su vecino es peor que Uds.? Que el respeto, la ayuda, ser solidario, compartir, proveer para todos y la tolerancia no son las mejores herramientas para vivir todos juntos y crecer juntos?
Querida America, la mayoría de su pueblo perdió respeto por si-mismo, perdió la esperanza. Porque si piensan un solo segundo que tal hombre será capaz de hacerlo todo mejor, están engañándose. Ésa NO es la manera de hacer.
Porque todos hacemos errores y necesitamos aprender de ellas (que, por lo visto, no hemos hecho todavía; prueba en el Brexit, en las elecciones de anoche y en las que van a venir que están en grande peligro ahora); porque no va a volver a crecer si les odio y odio su trágica decisión; porque mis amigos y mi familia viven en los EE.UU. y sí, les tengo mucha confianza,

Je n’arrive pas à croire que la moitié des Américains aient si peu d’estime de soi pour penser qu’ils méritent un tel homme pour les représenter et être leur Président. Chers amis, qu’est-ce qui et qui, vous a fait croire que vous ne pouvez pas avoir mieux? Chères femmes, qu’est-ce qui et qui, vous a donné une si mauvaise image de vous-mêmes que vous êtes prêtes à croire que ce qu’il a dit de vous est la manière dont vous devez être traitées? Chers être humains, qu’est-ce qui et qui, vous a fait penser que votre voisin est pire que vous? Que le respect, l’entraide, la solidarité, le partage, subvenir aux besoins de chacun et la tolérance ne sont pas les piliers sur lesquels s’appuyer pour vivre mieux ensemble?
Chère Amérique, la plupart de ton peuple a perdu toute estime de soi, a perdu tout espoir. Parce que si vous pensez qu’un tel homme pourra faire quoi que ce soit de mieux, vous vous voilez la face une fois de plus. Ce n’est PAS la bonne voie.
Parce qu’on fait tous des erreurs et qu’on doit apprendre d’elles (bien qu’on n’y arrive pas très bien pour l’instant; pour preuve, le Brexit, les élections d’hier et les prochaines qui sont désormais bien mises en péril); parce que vous ne vous relèverez pas si je vous hais et si je hais la décision horrible que vous venez de prendre; parce que mes amis et ma famille vivent aux USA et que je compte sur eux,
JE T’AIMERAI DAVANTAGE,

Poignant post–I’m in shock and mourning for my country. Disbelief is being replaced by the reality, which is devastating. I can only cling to hope.
The more I read about it all, the more I feel foolish as to have thought this would not happen… Your people, my people and other people around the world crave for other governments and are not listened to. We should have seen this coming…
After Brexit and now this, I can only tremble at the prospect of next year’s presidential elections in France too…
We need to find new leaders for a world, or we’ll only go down…

Thank you, Juls, for your resolve to love, not hate. So many complicated factors at work here, but I know that kindness is the simplest and clearest truth. We have a lot of work to do, that’s for certain. We’ll keep at it – me, my family, and my friends and so many others.
Thank you too Priscilla to not give up. I truly hope the next 4 years won’t be as harsh and difficult as we imagine they will be… We will be strong together!
I ache for the fears of bullying that ripple through my family: my daughter and her wife in a same-sex marriage, my son and his African-American fiancee, my sister who is a Sikh and wears a turban, and all the women in my family. I want an end to all ill-treatment and strength for everyone. I hope that we can imagine all the people living as one.
I ache for your family and my friends in the same situation. I ache for all people of minorities who are going to live very difficult moments and to whom I want to show my love, tolerance and understanding. I will stand with them.
In Mexico, we will have to go through some changes too, I guess. People here have become resilient during the first 4 years of presidency by this incompetent puppet that is Peña Nieto…
In France, I fear for freedom too as people there also are mislead by untrustworthy governments and also want to vote « against » as a punishment but punish themselves too…
Our very systems are to be put down and built again…
The fight keeps going. France and Germany’s elections next year!
Yes… Both countries also are in perilous positions. We will have to stand strong too.
A beautiful post, Juls. I am feeling so bad today about what has happened, about America, about living in this rich country that has so much hate. There is beauty too, I know that, but I’m having a hard time seeing that today. I feel sad for my sisters who have so little disregard for themselves that they would buy this man’s lies.
Maybe, out of all this, the people of America will come out stronger because they will have to stand together against a bunch of injustice. All people, from all countries, have to realize we’re on the wrong path and take a sharp turn. Soon.

Thanks Erika. All night’s nightmares and the heart-clunching feeling this morning made me think… and I remembered Martin Luther King’s words that only Love can save us from Hate.
I just hope and wish we, as human beings, will survive this shattering moment.
Love is the only way! We cannot spread ignorance and resentments and think we create love. The worse things are the more love we need to spread and your post is a wonderful example for that, Juls. Thank you so much!
