Ces carnets de vie et de voyages regroupent mes circonvolutions planétaires, mes pensées et mes apprentissages.

Commencés en 2011 dans l’espoir de raconter ce que j’avais vécu, ce qui m’avait touchée, ce qui m’avait fait grandir tout au long de mon voyage, sac à dos, seule autour du monde en 2010, ils sont le reflet de mon évolution: de la maladresse de la chenille qui se tortille dans un cocon trop petit pour elle, vers un mouvement plus souple, grandissant au fur et à mesure des rencontres, des lectures, des expériences, pour enfin s’envoler, papillon libre attiré toujours plus haut par des rêves toujours plus grands.

Pour moi, il y aura toujours un ‘avant‘ et un ‘après‘ 2010.

Avant, j’avais vécu à Aix-en-Provence dans le sud de la France et à Missoula dans le Montana, USA, où j’ai passé l’année de mes 18 ans en tant qu’étudiante étrangère, au lycée, hébergée dans une famille d’accueil. C’est là-bas que j’ai découvert la langue des signes (américaine), ce qui m’a permis de revenir en France avec une meilleure idée du travail dans lequel je voulais évoluer. Je suis devenue interprète français / LSF (langue des signes française). Bizarrement, un métier que je ne peux exercer qu’en France alors que mes ailes rêvaient déjà de s’étendre et d’aller explorer d’autres horizons…

Un divorce en 2009 mais surtout l’exemple de mon amie Laure, partie sac au dos parcourir le monde avant ses 30 ans et notre rendez-vous en Nouvelle Zélande au milieu de son périple, ont été les déclencheurs d’une vie dans laquelle je me reconnais aujourd’hui tellement mieux: c’est celle qui me correspond, celle que je vis à fond et pour laquelle je ne prends aucun détour, je vis tout, je garde le cœur et les yeux grand-ouverts, je vais partout où mes envies m’emportent, je ne regrette rien…

En septembre de cette année-là, je préparai un itinéraire, achetai un billet ‘Tour du Monde‘ (5 mois en Amérique latine – Mexique, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Équateur, Bolivie, Pérou, Argentine, Chili – 1 mois en Australie et 4 mois en Asie – Singapour, Thaïlande, Laos, Cambodge, Vietnam, Chine et Mongolie), vendais le peu que je possédais, travaillais 4 mois d’affilée comme une damnée et dormais enfin.

2010 est mon ‘année zéro,’ celle où je me suis découverte et acceptée, celle où j’ai grandi, trouvé les centres d’intérêt qui me nourrissent et me révèlent.

Mes premiers pas sur ce blog ont servi de lien avec ma famille et mes ami.e.s resté.e.s en France alors que je continuais mon chemin ailleurs. Trilingue, amoureuse des langues, j’ai tout de suite opté pour des carnets de voyage écrits en français, en anglais et en espagnol. Mes récits et photos m’ont permis de rester proche de celles.eux que j’avais croisé.e.s mais également de rencontrer virtuellement puis physiquement d’autres âmes passionnées, des voyageur.euse.s, des curieux.ses.

Entre 2010 et 2019, j’ai passé presque 6 ans sur les routes d’Amérique latine dont 3 dans le sud du Mexique, à Mérida, Yucatán, puis sur l’île de Holbox, Quintana Roo. Depuis tout ce temps, je développe ici ma passion pour la photographie et mes talents d’autrice amateure, à travers les diverses activités auxquelles je prends tant de plaisir à participer, sous l’eau, sur terre ou en l’air.

Devenue complètement accro à la randonnée pédestre après mes premières expériences extraordinaires en Patagonie chilienne (lors de séjours de 6 mois en 2012 et 5 mois en 2014), j’arpente les grands chemins de randonnée, en France et ailleurs, aussi souvent que possible. C’est grâce à elles que, depuis mon retour en métropole en février 2019 après une rupture difficile, je réapprends les beautés de mon pays. Grâce à elles encore, que je souhaite revoir ma façon de voyager, plus lentement, plus loin des sentiers battus, et pourquoi pas en van et/ou auto stop, dans les pays du coin?

Vivre et voyager de manière plus écologique, juste et éthique, ne laisser qu’une toute petite trace derrière moi, sont des thèmes devenus chers à mon cœur depuis quelques années déjà. Il est possible de faire toujours plus…

Aujourd’hui, lorsque je dois me décrire en quelques mots, j’utilise les suivants:

Je suis interprète français / LSF. Le monde est mon terrain de jeu, ma maison se trouve là où je pose mon sac à dos, là où le vent de mes envies m’emporte. Je suis une voyageuse curieuse et insatiable (39 pays visités à ce jour), dingue des hauteurs, photographe amateure, yogi débutante, randonneuse motivée, plongeuse et parachutiste passionnée, autrice maladroite, à la recherche de moments de bonheur! Dans une démarche écologique toujours plus consciente de mon environnement et des conséquences de mes actions, j’essaie également d’apprendre tous ces gestes et astuces à partager, qui nous permettront de vivre dans un monde meilleur, plus vert et plus sûr pour tous.

Désormais de retour au travail dans le sud de la France, j’apprends également le japonais, découvre la permaculture et prépare mes prochaines escapades!

To dreamers, travelers, curious people,

These life and travel notes group together my planetary convolutions, thoughts and learnings.

Started in 2011 in the hope to convey what I had lived, what had moved me, what made me grow during my backpacking solo journey around the world in 2010, they reflect my own evolution: from the clumsiness of the caterpillar wiggling in a cocoon too tight for her, towards a movement more supple, slowly growing through encounters, readings and experiences, before eventually flying away, as a free-to-roam butterfly, regularly attracted to bigger and higher dreams.

For me, there will always be a ‘before‘ 2010 and an ‘after‘ 2010.

Before, I had lived in Aix-en-Provence, southern France, and in Missoula, MT, USA, as an 18-year-old foreign exchange student in high school, hosted by a local family. There, I discovered (American) sign language, which allowed me to come back to France knowing a little better what kind of job I wanted to have. I became a French / French sign language interpreter. Oddly enough, a profession I can only practice in France when my wings already dreamt of extending and taking me explore new horizons…

A divorce in 2009, but most importantly the example of my friend Laure who left for a backpacking trip around the world before her 30th birthday and our reuniting in New Zealand halfway through her journey, were the sparks to a life in which I completely recognize myself today: the one that fits me, the one I want to live to its fullest, the one I won’t give up on, I’ll live everything for, I’ll keep my heart and eyes wide open, I’ll go everywhere my dreams take me, I will regret nothing…

In September that year, I planned an itinerary, bought a ‘Round-the-world‘ ticket (5 months in Latin America – Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile – 1 month in Australia and 4 months en Asia – Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and Mongolia), sold everything, worked like crazy for the next 4 months and slept like a baby for the first time in a long long time.

2010 is my ‘year zero,’ the year I discovered and accepted myself, the year I grew up, found interests that nourish me and in which I can reveal myself.

My first steps on this blog served as a link with my family and friends who remained in France whereas I was wandering other paths. Trilingual, lover of languages, I immediately knew I had to write those notes in French, English and Spanish. My stories and pictures allowed me to stay close to those I had crossed paths with, as well as to meet virtually and then physically other enthusiastic souls, travelers and curious people.

Between 2010 and 2019, I spent almost 6 years on the roads of Latin America, 3 of which in Merida, Yucatan, and Holbox island, Quintana Roo, southern Mexico. During all those years, I have nurtured here my passion for photography, my amateur writer’s talents, thoughout various activities I’m so eager to participate in, under water, on land or up in the air.

I have become completely hooked with hiking and trekking thanks to extraordinary experiences in Chilean Patagonia (while I lived there for 6 months in 2012 and 5 months in 2014). I now roam long hiking trails, in France and abroad, at every opportunity. It is thanks to them that, since I came back to France in February 2019 after a difficult break-up, I learn to see my own country’s beauties. Thanks to them too, that I wish to change my way of traveling, more slowly, truly away from the beaten paths, and why not try my hand at road-tripping in a van and/or go hitch-hiking, in France’s neighbor countries?

Living and traveling consciously, leave the slightest trace possible, have now been essential subjects for me for the past few years. It’s time to take it to a whole new level.

Today, when I’m asked to describe myself in a few words, I use the following:

I am a French / French sign language interpreter. The world is my playground. Home is wherever my backpack is, wherever the wind and my whims take me. Curious traveler (39 countries visited so far), crazy about heights, amateur photographer, newbe yogi, motivated trekker, passionate (sky)diver, clumsy writer, I’m always looking for the next happy moment! On an eco-friendly journey, every day more conscious of the consequences of my actions on the environment, I also avidly learn about any trick I can live by and share, to make the world a better, greener and safer place for everyone.

Currently based back in southern France for work, learning Japanese, discovering permaculture, I’m also planning my next getaway!

Esas notas de vida y viajes juntan mis circunvoluciones alrededor del planeta, mis pensamientos y mis aprendizajes.

Iniciadas en 2011 con el objetivo de compartir lo que había vivido, lo que me movió, lo que me hizo crecer durante mi vuelta del mundo, sola, de mochilera en 2010, reflejan mi evolución propia: desde oruga torpe contoneándose en su capullo demasiado apretado, hacia un movimiento más ágil, creciendo poco a poco gracias a encuentros, lecturas y experiencias, para convertirse en una mariposa libre, volando cada vez más alto para alcanzar sueños cada vez más grandes.

Para mi, siempre habrá un ‘antes‘ 2010 y un ‘después‘ 2010.

Antes, había vivido en Aix-en-Provence, en el sur de Francia y en Missoula, Montana, EE.UU., a los 18 años, de estudiante extranjera en un liceo, hospedada por una familia local. Ahí, descubrí la lengua de señas (americana), lo que me permitió regresar a Francia con una mejor idea del trabajo que quería ejercer. Me gradué de intérprete francés / lengua de señas francesa. Extrañamente, es una profesión que solamente puedo tener en Francia, cuando mis alas ya estaban a punto de abrirse y llevarme por nuevos rumbos y horizontes lejanos…

Un divorcio en 2009 pero, más importante aún, el ejemplo de mi gran amiga Laure, quien salió a dar la vuelta del mundo, sola, de mochilera, antes de cumplir 30 y nuestro encuentro en Nueva Zelanda a la mitad de su camino, fueron las chispas de una nueva vida, en la cual me reconozco por completo hoy: la que me corresponde, la que quiero vivir al máximo, la por cual no dejaré nada, viviré todo, el corazón y los ojos gran abiertos, iré en todos los lugares dónde me llevan mis sueños, no me arepentiré de nada.

En septiembre de aquel año, tenía itinerario listo, compre mi boleto ‘Vuelta del mundo‘ (5 meses en Latinoamérica – México, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile – 1 mes en Australia y 4 meses en Asia – Singapur, Tailandia, Laos, Camboya, Vietnam, China y Mongolia), vendí lo poco que tenía, trabajé como loca durante los 4 meses siguientes y dormí por fín como un bebé.

2010 es mi ‘año cero,’ él durante descubrí y acepté quién era yo, encontré centros de interés que me nutren y en los cuales me puedo revelar.

Mis primeros pasos en este blog fueron para mantener el contacto con la familia y los amigo.a.s que viven en Francia, mientras estaba yo recorriendo otros caminos. Trilingüe, amante de los idiomas, supe de inmediato que tenía que escribir esas notas en francés, inglés y español. Mis historias y fotografías me permitieron seguir siendo cerca de los.las con quienes había cruzado camino, así como encontrar virtualmente y luego físicamente a otras almas apasionadas, viajero.a.s y gente de mente curiosa.

Entre 2010 y 2019, recorrí las rutas de Latinoamérica durante casi 6 años, 3 de los cuales viví en el sur de México, en Mérida, Yucatán, y en la isla de Holbox, Quintana Roo. Durante todos esos años, cultive aquí mi pasión para la fotografía, desarrollé mis talentos de escritora aficionada a través de varias actividades en que me gusta participar, bajo el agua, en la tierra o en el aire.

Luego de experiencias extraordinarias en la Patagonia chilena (durante 2 estancias, una de 6 meses en 2012 y una de 5 meses en 2014), se volvió una gran adicción mía, hacer caminatas largas. Hoy en día, voy a recorrer senderos de grandes caminatas, en Francia o al extranjero, en cuanto se pueda. Es gracias a ellas que, desde que volví a Francia en febrero 2019 luego de una separación difícil, aprendo a ver y disfrutar las bellezas de mi propio país. Gracias a ellas también, que estoy pensando en cambiar mi manera de viajar, más lentamente, más lejos de los senderos conocidos y porqué no imaginarme tomar un road-trip en un van y/o hacer dedo, para ir a visitar los países vecinos de Francia?

Vivir y viajar con consciencia y producir la huella más pequeña son temas primordiales en mi manera de pensar desde hace algunos años. Ahora, es tiempo de tomarlo a otro nivel, aún.

Ahora, cuando me piden una descripción personal en algunas frases, les digo lo siguiente:

Soy intérprete entre el francés y la lengua de señas francesa. El mundo es mi area de juegos. Mi casa se ubica en dónde está mi mochila y en dónde me llevan el viento y mis deseos. Viajera curiosa (visité 39 países hasta hoy), loca por las alturas, fotógrafa aficionada, principiante yogui, caminante motivada, apasionada del buceo y de la paracaída, siempre estoy buscando cuál será el próximo momento de alegría. Involucrada en un viaje ecológico de mejor consciencia frente a mis acciones y sus consecuencias sobre el entorno, estoy abierta a todos los consejos y trucos para vivir en mejor armonía, crear un mundo mejor, más seguro y más verde para todos.

Actualmente de vuelta en el sur de Francia para el trabajo, aprendiendo japonés, descubriendo permacultura, también ¡sigo preparando mis próximas escapadas!

    j’apprécie énormément ton blog, c’est une ouverture au voyage et aux découvertes humaines magnifique.
    Tu as encore de biens belles années à vivre à la découverte du monde et je te souhaite de magnifiques rencontres et souvenirs inoubliables.
    En ce qui me concerne, depuis mon retour du PCT en 2017, je travaille à l’élaboration du CHEMIN SAUVAGE, trek et bivouac en France et l’Association m’occupe pour un certain temps. Nous sommes un noyau de 5 et grâce à de nombreux bénévoles nous avançons plutôt bien sur le tracé.

    I would like to make some little suggestions about a couple of the quotations you’ve listed: The one you’ve attributed to Vanessa Paradis (born in 1972), actually came from George Bernard Shaw in his play, Back to Methuselah, in 1949, (famously quoted by John F. Kennedy in 1963, and his brother Robert in 1968). And of course, the Forrest Gump quote was originally penned by Winston Groom in his 1986 novel, Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks was just speaking lines. 🙂

    1. I know it’s not easy to make the decisión to leave and go on the road, but at some point in your life, you’ll have to make it if it’s really something you want to do. It’s easy now to talk about it but it took me a few months before acting on that decisión.

  40. So happy for you that you had the courage to leave everything behind and go on a pilgrimage around the world. I have traveled a lot myself and always appreciate the discoveries I make about myself while experiencing a new culture, a different way of life. For me, the outer travels always encourage the inner traveling as well.

    1. I tried to be as objective as possible and just state the facts. Since my mother and some of my best friends told me they definitely found me there again, I would say I did it pretty accurately. 😀

    1. Merci beaucoup! Fui a San Pedro de Atacama y visité la Valle de la Luna pero no me quede mucho en el desierto. Luego vivi unos meses en Patagonia chilena y ahi me senti mucho mejor. No tengo idea de quien soy la re-encarnacion pero intento vivir plenamente esa vida antes de saber de las anteriores! ja! Gracias por visitar! Hasta pronto!

  58. I’m absolutely amazed that you write your blog in 3 languages. I translate every day from French to English and it takes a loooong time to get it right. I don’t think I could do it for my blog, besides I’d have to translate the other way which is even harder, English to French. I admire you.

      It does take a long time to translate it all… have you notice how shorter my entries got lately?!? :-S not that I’m getting lazy but it takes time and I do my best to think in each language every time I change. It’s not perfect but I used to work in the interpreting world (with sign language, though) so I stay in my field of knowledge.

Ta visite a mon blogue m’a permis de decouvrir le tien, et je suis ravie de faire ta connaissance Julie, pas seulement parce que tu es une personne trilingue, ou pour tes voyages et experience ou tes quatres vies, mais tout ce que j’ai lu ici m’a donne une grande envie de m’abonner a te suivre….
    En fin je dois commenter que pour moi qui est une linguiste, est tres important de rencontrer une personne qui ecrit son blog en trois langues sans utiliser google traducteur 😀 C’est tres excitant!

    1. Paula! Merci de ton attention et de ce beau commentaire! Je suis interprète de formation, aussi je ne pouvais me satisfaire de Google trad pour partager mes aventures avec mes amis qui parlent espagnol ou anglais. « On n’est jamais mieux servis que par soi-même »! 😉

      De mon côté, j’ai adoré tes photos pour les challenges et les chansons y donnent un air différent des autres, c’est très agréable à lire et à entendre! 😀

  61. La vie est un long voyage, alors autant en profiter. Et tu as raison, chaque vie a plusieurs phases et c’est ce qui la rend interessante. Moi je n’ai pas autant bouge (surtout aux Etats-Unis) et je me suis finalement posee quand j’ai eu des enfants. Et ca aussi c’est un voyage formidable. Bon voyage!
