Photography 101: Architecture – La Liberté Eclairant le Monde

Gift from the French people to the American, dedicated on October 28, 1886, the Statue of Liberty in the harbor of New York City, USA, is a symbol of freedom and hope for all.  Since the day of her inauguration, she represents what everyone strives for and dreams of.  Visiting her is like going on a pilgrimage.

Almost every time I go to New York, I give her my respect.  Either by going to Liberty Island or by taking the (free) Staten Island Ferry back and forth.  This year, with Raul discovering the city for the first time, I thought it important that he should see it from up-close and personal and continue the visit by stepping onto Ellis Island and the Immigration Museum.  Since he loves personal stories making History, the place was spot on.

The day was slightly overcast with chances of rain.  But it so happened that the light was ideal for a few gorgeous pictures, or so I think.

The Liberty Enlightning the World shone with splendor upon the bay and Manhattan.

Regalo del pueblo francés al pueblo americano, dedicada el 28 de Octubre de 1886, la Estatua de la Libertad en el puerto de la ciudad de Nueva York, EE.UU., es un símbolo de libertad y de esperanza para todos.  Desde el mero día de su inauguración, representa todo lo que la gente quiere y con qué sueña.  Visitarla es como hacer una peregrinación.

Casi cada vez que voy a Nueva York, le doy mi respeto.  Voy a Liberty Island o tomo el ferry (gratis) hacia Staten Island, ida y vuelta.  Este año, con Raúl visitando la ciudad por primera vez, me pareció importante que la viera de muy cerca y que continuará su visita en Ellis Island y el Museo de la Inmigración.  Porque le encantan las historias personales que participan a la grande Historia, el lugar era perfecto.

El día estuvo un poco nublado con chances de lluvia.  De repente, la luz fue ideal para sacar unas fotos muy hermosas, pienso yo.

La Libertad Iluminando el Mundo brilló con mucha esplendor sobre la bahía y Manhattan.

Cadeau du peuple Français aux Américains, dédiée le 28 OCtobre 1886, la Statue de la Liberté dans le port de la ville de New York aux États-Unis, est un symbole de liberté et d’espoir pour tous.  Depuis le jour de son inauguration, elle représente tout ce dont rêve les gens et tout ce à quoi ils aspirent.  Lui rendre visite, c’est comme un pèlerinage.

Presqu’à chaque fois que je vais à New York, je lui paie mes respects.  Que ce soit en allant à Liberty Island ou en prenant le ferry (gratuit) aller/retour jusqu’à Staten Island.  Cette année, comme Raul découvrait la ville pour la première fois, j’ai pensé qu’il était important qu’il découvre la Statue de manière plus personnelle et qu’il en profite pour voir aussi Ellis Island et le Musée de l’Immigration.  Puisqu’il adore les petites histoires qui font la grande, le lieu était parfait.

Ce jour-là, il faisait plutôt gris avec des chances d’averses.  Il se trouve que la lumière était parfaite pour faire quelques belles photos, je pense.

La Liberté Éclairant le Monde a brillé de tout son éclat sur la baie et sur Manhattan.
