This week’s challenge : In the background
Still unable to take new pictures, I rummaged once more among the archives and remembered one of my favorite pictures : in Luang Prabang, Laos, I tried many times to have a good shot of monks roaming the city in their colorful clothes. That day, my camera was still set on « auto » so it focused on the trees instead of the boys… I just love the green and orange mix and those beautiful persons in the background…

🙂 Merci Julie
Love the monks Juls! Good choice.
Thanks Tina! I remember your pictures of monks and can only hope that some day I’ll have as good pictures as yours! meanwhile, I’m a fan of this one! 😉
Of course the colours are what draw me to this but, upon reflection, I also like the calm, natural world of vegetation on the left contrasting with the cars on the right. The monks walk the middle way – literally and figuratively..
Beautiful colors.
Sometimes my iPad refuses to focus on what I’d like it to focus on. Too bad I didn’t keep all those pictures. 🙂 Fortunately, I had one that worked. You’re right about how colorful the clothes are.

that’s the problem with the « auto » but, yeah, sometimes, it takes a picture different from what you wanted to take, doesn’t mean that it isn’t a great shot! Maybe you’ll keep them now, just in case… 😉
This kind of « street » photography isn’t really my thing, and by that I mean not what I normally shoot, so I really don’t know what I’m talking about. But I like that the camera focused on the tree instead of the monks.
Sometimes, the « auto » mode does wonders! 😉
I live in Berkeley, California and while it doesn’t happen everyday, there are times where you’ll run into the occasional fully clothed monk or two. Nice shot.
That must be quite a sight, then… In Asia, it was a rather usual sight but so different from what I’m used to, I kept shooting and shooting… and then, I just loved that one! 😉
