This week challenge : Culture
In Yucatan, there’s nothing more cultural that the display of dances in the local traditional costume. Every Monday on Main Square, downtown Merida, you can sit in front of the City Hall and have a thourough look and ear at the « Vaquería. » A tradition which first appeared in the Haciendas in honor of the Patron Saint of the place and is nowadays a means of introducing the local customs to all visitors.
Even after a year living in Merida, I still enjoy the show very much and take my friends or couchsurfers to the party every time I can! 😉
Will you join us?
Vous nous y retrouvez?

Delightful interpretation of the challenge. So colorful, and beautiful too.
Very nice! Love the dancing colors.
thanks for taking the time to say so!
Very nice. I like how you have the motion in the picture, too. And speaking of variety of culture, all your languages are evidence of that, too.
janet
thanks for stopping by Janet and taking time to comment. I liked the motion in the picture too and had no choice because it’s still very hard for me to take a still picture of people moving about and dancing; but, here, I found it very interesting. I wish I could speak many other languages too but these 3 will do for now 😉 Have yourself a great time too! Cheers!
Esto es lindo Julie 🙂
muchisimas gracias Paula!
🙂 de nada linda 😀
Great photo.
thanks! 😀
Beautiful photo! It is so wonderful that Mexico continues this cultural tradition.
Definitely! my friends went to the show yesterday and once more were overjoyed to be there and see such a beauty and all those colors! the fact that the last dance is done with a tray of glasses full of beer on the dancers’ head is even more impressive and none of them ever spill a drop! ha!
Love the movement of the shot!
thanks! I was pretty happy of the effect too.
