This week challenge : Beyond
In October 2010, while in Beijing, we went twice to see the Great Wall of China. Both times, the fog and mist never let us see more than a few paces in front of us. That gave it an eerie look sometimes and definitely made us wonder at what laid beyond…

This is an excellent photo for the challenge. The fog entices us to move beyond the foreground. Very nice!
Thanks, I’m happy I dragged you beyond what the eye can obviously see…
I love how the fog doesn’t give you all the scene up-front – lets you see just enough to make you want to step forward to explore what is beyond. I love that certain element of mystery. Excellent shot!
😀
Incredible photo. The Wall and the towers fading into the fog are spectacular.
Thank You Jeff! I’m glad I could capture a particular feeling on the Wall, quite distinct from anybody else’s pictures in the sun.
Yes, and in my opinion, that’s almost always better than capturing the same shot, no matter how good, that every other photographer takes. A different, unique take on a commonly photographed landmark is always much more appealing to me. Something I always strive for.
I completely agree with you. I’m happy that I could shoot something different on the Great Wall. Since I had 2 opportunities on the Wall, though, I’d have liked the second one to be under the sun! ha!
But the good thing about the mist is that I definitely have some shots no one else (or fewer people) has!
Exactly! Your photos are different than any other Great Wall photo I’ve ever seen, which makes them stand out from the crowd.
😀
You’ve turned a cliché into a mystery! Wonderful!
I’m so glad you see it that way! I’m starting to feel special about having been there in the mist 😉
Wow. This is a breathtaking shot. Beautiful work.
Thank you very much!
The fog makes the photo very interesting and different from all other photos of the Great Wall 😉
Yes, that’s what I keep telling me! although… you know… I wish I had also seen it with a ray of sunlight! ha! will just have to go back!
thanks for stopping by!
