Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port – Burguete
28 kms (total: 98 kms)
7 hours and 30 minutes (+ 2h30 of lunch and photo breaks)
31°C, sunny all day.
Favorites: I crossed the Pyrenees on foot!!!!! The wind on my face despite the heat and sun beating on us; I was good to my knee (i.e. the length of the breaks) and it was super good to me!
Downs: 2/3 of the hike is obviously going uphill and is very demanding but the way down…!!!! I was told I could stay with locals for 10€/night in Burguete and that doesn’t happen at all!
Stayed at l’Auberge du Pèlerin, 25 rue de la citadelle, in St-Jean (17€/night, 14€/diner was delicious!).
Met Sophie and Marie (CN), Jeanette (VZ), Michael (US), Laurette (FR), Betee (NL).
Tomorrow is another day on El Camino… Will I rest or will I go? 🙂
rest or go? Let the knee decide 😉 I don’t know about you, but sometimes down hill is just as hard as up hill, in a different way.
Downhill is harder on the knee, even though uphill is harder on thighs and breath. I walked on day 5 (today) but tomorrow is a rest day for sure! Thanks for your concern 😊😉
